The Bronx Jewish community is reacting to Iran firing nearly 200 missiles at Israel.

The attack comes one day before the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashana. It marks the start of the High Holidays and is one of the holiest days in the Jewish community.

While this is usually a time for celebration, many across the sea were hunkered down in bomb shelters.

The holiday also falls just days before the one-year anniversary of the Oct. 7 Hamas attack on Israel.

Since Oct.7, 2023, the Bronx Jewish Center has been providing a sense of light for the community in the Bronx.

Rabbi Saadia Pewzner leads the congregation. He says within the last year, his congregation has fallen victim to antisemitic hate crimes.

Gov. Kathy Hochul and Mayor Eric Adam's say there is currently no credible threat to New York.

There will be increased police presence and security measures in place at places of worship throughout the High Holidays.
