A Bronx man convicted in the brutal 2016 murder of his aunt was handed down the maximum sentence Thursday by a Bronx judge.
Andros Topping, a four-time felon, was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison.
Topping pleaded guilty in the murder of his aunt, Patricia Myers, who took the parolee into her Claremont home after his release from prison.
Police say the retired nurse, who relied on an oxygen mask to breathe, was beaten to death inside her Bronx apartment.
A month after her disappearance, Myers’ decomposing body was found partially buried inside a suitcase in a Harlem housing development.
During sentencing, the judge told Topping that the evidence against him was overwhelming and his crime was “gruesome.”
Topping’s attorney told News 12 that his client took a plea deal to avoid a drawn-out trial.
