Bronx man receives $25,000 award from Bad Bunny for community service

308ds agoBronx resident Nick Figueroa was recognized for his community service by musical superstar Bad Bunny and received a $25,000 reward.
The achievement is associated with Bad Bunny partnering with Cheetos for a scholarship program. This summer, he called on fans nationwide in an effort to highlight Latinos making a difference in their communities.
Twenty people, including Nick and two other New Yorkers, were selected to receive $25,000 from the $500,000 Deja Tu Huella Fund to continue supporting their passion.
Figueroa is the founder of the Latinos Urban Book Club and was handpicked for supporting and studying the work of LatinX authors.
"I think Bad Bunny has been such a role model for us because he intertwines music with the love for your culture and your heritage and giving back," he said.
He also told News 12 that he's doing even more for the Bronx community. Figueroa recently partnered with KIPP All Middle School in the Bronx to provide financial assistance to students who may need them.
