In June, Mayor Eric Adams announced that public schools would be required to facilitate two to five minutes of breathwork every day. One Bronx middle school is taking it one step further.
The students at M.S. 129 in East Tremont have incorporated breathwork and meditation into their daily curriculum. The students have access to an area called a “BuddHaBooth” that they can go to in order to calm down, relax and find their clarity during the hectic school day.
Principal Jason Reyes says that this space helps the students accomplish academic excellence by giving them a chance to focus on their emotional and mental wellness.
