Bronx residents took to the streets of Little Italy to immerse themselves into and celebrate Italian heritage on Columbus Day.
Neighbors came to Arthur Avenue to celebrate all things Italian. Most of the businesses along Arthur Avenue have remained in the family for generations and have gained a reputation for their authentic food, merchants, and hospitality, drawing in visitors from across the world from all backgrounds.
“Pride, heritage, the culture, we’re so super proud of what the Italians have done and what they continue to do,” said Belmont resident Anna Baio.
Many Italian Americans across the country take pride in celebrating Columbus Day, especially those in the heart of Little Italy.
“Columbus Day is something that I’ve celebrated since I was a child,” said Frank Franz, president of the Belmont Business Improvement District. “We’re very traditional, it’s always nice to celebrate our culture, our traditions, our history.”
