Many Bronx residents headed out Monday to Fordham Road to take advantage of the President?s Day sales.

Many local stores offered discounts to lure customers in. Some businesses say the competition is fierce to make sales. Many shoppers say competition drives down the prices and gives them better bargains.

Several store owners say their sales were up 15 percent compared to last year at this time. Some store managers add the marked down prices aren?t only one-day sales.
