A 15-year-old Bronx girl who went to Tanzania on a mission to help build schools for the country's poor died Friday, officials there say.
Laniece Moore drowned in a pool at her hotel, according to authorities.
Moore's family says she was delivering school supplies and helping rebuild schools in the East African country.
Officials at a school where she volunteered say they will dedicate a classroom in her memory.
Moore was a student at Thurgood Marshall Academy in Harlem.
Her body is being shipped back to New York for burial.
Moore's parents say they plan to honor her with a March 5 memorial.
"We were going to give her a big Sweet 16," her parents say. "So this is her Sweet 16."
