A Bronx woman is accused in the death of a 31-year-old man who was found with a stab wound to his chest Saturday night.

According to police, officers responded to a 911 call of an assault in progress at 100 West 174th St. at 6:28 p.m. Upon arrival, officers found an unresponsive man who had been stabbed. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

After taking a person of interest into custody, they charged Claudius Purifoy, 35, with murder in the second degree, manslaughter, assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

It is believed that the victim and Purifoy were married.

Residents in the area say they were surprised that the crime would happen in their neighborhood,

"Somebody killing somebody else, that's really rare that happens around here," said Enrique Munoz, a lifelong Bronx resident.

Police have still not released the name of the victim.

Police are still investigating what led to the fatal stabbing.
