The BronxWorks organization is hard at work offering shelter to the homeless as below-freezing temperatures continue to blanket the city.

"I was stuck and stranded on the streets when BronxWorks found me," says Jayda Jordan. "I don't think I would've been able to make it in that cold weather."

BronxWorks doesn't require people seeking help to have an ID, but they need to be 18 or older.

Mayor Bill de Blasio has issued a Code Blue, meaning overnight temperatures are so low they can be life-threatening.

BronxWorks' goal is to provide aid in the forms of immediate medical help, counseling, referrals to substance treatment facilities or just emergency housing.

The bone-chilling cold has the nonprofit's temporary housing center on Barretto Street packed above its capacity.
