Brooklyn community holds vigil for slain 16-year-old’s family, denounces gun violence

A source tells News 12 he was chased from Madison Street and Classon Avenue. They say the chase ended about a block later when Turnage was shot.

Members of the Brooklyn community came together Thursday to mourn a teenager whose life was cut short.
The community held a vigil in Bed-Stuy to remember 16-year-old Jaden Turnage and also to also denounce gun violence. 
People said prayers and offered comfort to Turnage’s family. 
Police say Turnage was shot in the chest in front of 35 Monrow St. on Wednesday. They say he was taken to Brooklyn Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. 
A source tells News 12 he was chased from Madison Street and Classon Avenue. They say the chase ended about a block later when Turnage was shot. 
Community members say the shooting is a shock, as the street is normally quiet with not much gun violence. 
Police say the investigation is ongoing at this time. They say no arrests have been made.
