Ronnell Watson opened fire at Christopher Harper multiple times while Harper was on-duty in his vehicle on Canarsie Road in 2018.
Watson was convicted of attempted murder and assault.
News 12 is told Harper had to have surgery to remove a bullet from his lungs.
