Starbucks workers in Brooklyn were among the workers across the United States participating Wednesday in the "One Day Longer" national unfair labor strike.
The workers are demanding that stores be more fully staffed, and that they should be given what they’re calling a “real seat at the table” with partners, as well as contract negotiations.
“We’re bargaining for consistent scheduling, better safety measures,” said Arianna Ayala, a Starbucks worker. “We've had multiple meetings and setups for our bargaining time with lawyers and Starbucks lawyers. They refuse to show up or cancel last minute."
Starbucks provided News 12 with the following statement in response to the strikes:
"Rather than publicizing rallies and protests, we encourage Workers United to live up to their obligations by responding to our proposed sessions and meeting us in-person to move the good faith bargaining process forward."
