Xamayla Rose teamed up with her mother and founded the Christopher Rose Community Empowerment Campaign, but she also wears many other hats to help the Brooklyn community. 

The nonprofit organization focuses on preventing youth violence. Rose lost her brother back in 2005,when he was only 15 years old. 

"He was murdered, he and his friends were walking down the street and young people came in and decided they were going to use him as a victim for gang initiation,” said Rose. 

The organization also gives out free groceries every other week in East New York. 

They also host events to connect the community with the support and resources they need.
