A Brownsville family got the red-carpet treatment as a treat to take his mind off of constant medical visits.
Jeremiah Garcia Pulley has been battling sickle cell disease since he was an infant.
Hospital visits have been common for Pulley ever since he was diagnosed.
The disease makes red blood cells become hard and sticky, forming a c-shape and causing pain and discomfort in patients.
“Once every couple of months, he’s in and out of the hospital. Sometimes he has pain, back hurting, hands hurting, feet hurting, a lot of headaches,” says Jessica Garcia Pulley, Jeremiah’s mother.
His mother learned of Make-A-Wish Foundation a few years ago and applied.
The 8-year-old says he was excited when his wish was granted - an online shopping spree.
“He was super excited when the Playstation 5 came, he got a computer,” says Jessica Garcia Pulley.
That wasn’t the only surprise, as Madame Tussauds Wax Museum in Manhattan learned that Jeremiah is a fan of Spiderman.
“I got a gift, which was the Spiderman glove and web shooter,” says Jeremiah Garcia Pulley.
To honor the boy who they call a real-life hero, the whole family had the museum to themselves where they say they played games and watched the 4D Marvel Experience.
The private experience was crucial for Jeremiah, who is prone to infection because of his diagnosis.
Jeremiah will continue fighting the chronic disease, but his family appreciates the once-in-a-lifetime experience they were gifted.
