Residents in a Crown Heights neighborhood say a bulging tree root on the sidewalk is creating a danger zone.
Neighbors say the tree on Park Place has become a safety concern for the past seven years. The roots have broken the sidewalks and caused the pavement to crumble every year.
They say the worst part is that the root sits on top of a gas line.
"It creates a trip hazard... it's basically overtaken the whole section of the street," said resident Maria Florez.
Neighbors also say they are worried about the seniors and kids hurting themselves.
News 12 reached out to the city’s Parks Department about neighbors' concerns. It said they met with the community, and they are working with other agencies to resolve the tree issue.
The department also said it tested the gas line and it is not damaged.
