A community of less than 100 people in Mott Haven are giving back to their home country in West Africa.

Pouytenga is a small city in Burkina Faso that has been without an ambulance for decades. That's why some Bronx residents banded together and used their own money to buy an ambulance that will be headed to Burkina Faso in just a few days.

The emergency vehicle was marked with American flags to show that even a small group of people in the Bronx can make a difference.

"You don't have to have all the money in the world in order for you to get back to your community," said community leader Souhoutou Zombre. "You can have a small amount and just have an impact in the community as well."

Members of the Burkina Faso community also hope the ambulance can provide jobs and learning opportunities for people in their home country.
