New kitchen cabinets and furniture are getting slapped with a new price tag.

The new tariffs that took effect Tuesday include a 25% tariff on imported kitchen cabinets and vanities and a 25% tariff on imported upholstered wooden furniture.

Businesses are already preparing for changes.

“I just got an email blast like 13-14%" said Flamur Mariqi, who oversees operations at Mariqi Kitchens. “Prices have steadily increased, but not to a dramatic effect, but I think this time, it is going to be a big kicker as to OK, it’s getting really expensive.”

Price increases might not be seen until businesses are forced to restock, but the conversations around tariffs have many people already changing the way they shop.

The tariffs are set to increase again on Jan. 1, unless new trade agreements are reached.
