A Bronx man has pleaded not guilty to robbery charges following a January shooting that left two police officers wounded.

Joshua Kemp, 28, is charged with two counts of first-degree robbery. On Jan. 5, police say Kemp and Jason Polanco held up a grocery store. Responding officers spotted Kemp outside a nearby Chinese restaurant and approached him. Police say that's when Polanco shot at the officers from inside the restaurant.

Kemp's lawyer Sameer Chopra says his client is being unfairly linked to the alleged shooter, Polanco. He told News 12, "They are two different individuals who allegedly committed two different crimes." 

Chopra adds that Kemp is also a victim of an unexpected shooting. Kemp was shot in the arm when Polanco opened fire on the officers, police say.

Kemp is being held on $200,000 bail. He is due back in court on April 30. If convicted, Kemp faces anywhere from 10 to 25 years in prison.
