The Casita Maria Center for Arts and Education, known for being the first Latino charity in New York City, will be holding its annual gala Tuesday.

The center says it serves over 1,000 children from kindergarten through 12th grade daily in South Bronx for free, and wants to help young people succeed in a nurturing environment through arts and education.

The organization says while it receives city and corporate funding, a large chunk of its operating budget is raised at its signature event - the annual Fiesta Gala at the Plaza Hotel in Midtown Manhattan.

The night has attracted celebrities in the past, including Nicky Hilton Rothschild.

The organization also recognizes honorees during the event, saying they are respected and established individuals who are praised for their contribution to the worlds of arts, education and philanthropy.

One of this year's honorees, Juan Montoya, is being awarded with the Casita Maria medal of honor for his work in interior design.

The organization says having honorees gives the students an idea of success to look up to.
