Castle Hill Avenue is getting a lane reduction which means some lanes will be getting turned into turning only lanes or bike lanes.
According to the Department of Transportation, the lane reductions will take place between East Tremont Avenue and Hart Street in an effort to make the area safer for pedestrians.
The DOT says 28 people had been killed or severely injured between 2010 and 2014 on the stretch of roadway getting the lane reductions.
As a result some areas will be reduced to just one lane of traffic, and in areas where a lot of vehicles double park, drivers may have to veer into oncoming traffic to get around those parked cars.
The whole plan is part of Mayor Bill de Blasio's Vision Zero initiative.
