308ds agoMore than half a dozen catalytic converters were stolen from a charity in Rockland County.
Just as Meals on Wheels was starting its week, the nonprofit realized it has been the victim of the theft.
Kevin Hardy, CEO and president of Meals on Wheels Rockland, says seven of their 11 vehicles were impacted, with an unsuccessful attempt at taking eight.
The crime stalled most of the organization's mission on Monday, leaving them scrambling to provide services to seniors.
Police say catalytic converters were stolen from other businesses in the area as well.
Hardy says it will cost thousands and take months to have them installed in all those vehicles again.
The Clarkstown Police Department suggests businesses have locked gates with alarms, motion sensor lighting and surveillance cameras to deter thieves from targeting you.
