Two City Parks lifeguards, alongside the FDNY, helped make a life-saving water rescue Friday on Rockaway Beach during recently extended lifeguard hours.
The rescue was capture on video by the FDNY drone team and shared by the NYC Office of Emergency Management.
On Tuesday, Mayor Eric Adams announced extended hours for lifeguards as a precaution.
OEM urged New Yorkers not to swim after official lifeguard duties end at 6 p.m.
Officials say the person rescued was conscious and breathing and left the scene after being assessed by EMS.
