Cavan’s Walk, Run and Family Fun Day raises money in fight against rare disease

Long Islanders laced up their shoes Saturday to help a 12-year-old who is battling a rare disease.
Cavan McGovern was diagnosed with a mitochondrial disease called Kearns-Sayre Syndrome four years ago.
His family and the Locust Valley community gathered for a fundraiser walk, run and family-fun day to find a cure for KSS.
The family hoped to raise $50,000. Anyone who would like to donate to the cause can do so here.
