Celebration of women held by Bronx borough president in Tremont

Women in the Bronx were celebrated and praised for their contributions to the borough in an event held by Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson.

The event at the Grand Slam Banquet Hall in Tremont saw five women honored for their positive impact in the Bronx including Lizette B. Ritz, executive director of the Green Bronx Machine, and Daise Cocco De Filippis, the first Dominican woman to serve as a CUNY president.

Gibson says that the evening is to celebrate the legacy of women from all different backgrounds in the Bronx who are leading the way for future generations.
