Celebrities, NYC officials react to R. Kelly sex trafficking, racketeering conviction

R. Kelly was found guilty by a federal jury on Thursday and now awaits his prison sentencing.  
The man behind hits like “I Believe I can fly”  was convicted on sex trafficking and racketeering counts – many of his victims being minors.  
Several celebrities and local officials to social media to share their thoughts on the verdict after the five-week trial concluded.
“R. Kelly survivors have endured so much and this verdict won’t end the pain but it does matter,” former NYC mayoral candidate and civil rights lawyer Maya Wiley.  
Dream Hampton, the executive producer of the series “Surviving R Kelly” wrote, “Grateful to the survivors. The ones who talked and the ones who didn’t.”
RAINN, the national network that advocates for survivors of sexual assault, posted: “R Kelly has been found guilty of all counts in his federal trial. Today's verdict was made possible by survivors' courage and persistence in being heard—thank you for your courage.”
Kelly could end up spending the next few decades in prison, which will be determined when his sentencing takes place on May 4th.
