A group of people from the Bronx will have an opportunity to meet with Pope Francis during his visit to New York later this month.
The group is made up of immigrants, refugees and first-generation Americans. They will meet the pope on Sept. 25.
They were chosen through a lottery after submitting essays to a program run by Catholic Charities, a network of faith-based nonprofits focused on helping the needy.
The organization has been working with some of them and their families to help them seek asylum, or overcome language barriers and other immigration issues.
