With long COVID-19 testing and vaccination lines wrapping around the city, one charter school has taken matters into its own hands.
Children’s Aid College Prep Charter School has two buses set up that are offering vaccination and testing for adults as well as kids.
The school’s elementary school campus and middle school campus on the other side of Crotona Park are both participating in the initiative, as part of the Parent Organization Children’s Aid.
They partnered with the city and have been offering free COVID-19 testing and vaccinations for kids and adults all week.
You don’t have to be associated with the school to get jabbed or swabbed. The head of the school tells News 12 it was important for them to help the entire community, not just students and parents.
Many tell News 12 that they’re grateful for the services and that the testing site isn’t immune to long lines.
The buses will be at the middle school location from 8 a.m. to noon on Friday and will be closed on Christmas Day.
They will reopen on Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
