A child died after being struck by a bus Thursday morning in New Square.
The incident happened around 8:35 a.m. near 32 Ostilla Ave. in the village.
The bus driver remained at the scene following the crash, police said.
A police source tells News 12 the bus driver was not aware he hit the child and came back to the scene when he was alerted.
The bus, named Yeshiva Avir Yakov, was towed away as part of the investigation.
News 12 reached out to the company for comment and are waiting to hear back.
The 5-year-old boy was taken to Westchester Medical Center in serious condition and later died, police said.
Ramapo police and New Square emergency responders were at the scene for several hours.
Thursday's incident comes exactly two years after an 8-year-old boy was also hit and killed by a bus in New Square near Clinton Lane and Stern Street.
