An auction house and art gallery is celebrating American art as part of their “Americana Week” exhibition and auction.
The exhibition featured everything from folk to fine art and more. Located at 20 Rockefeller Plaza, Christie’s welcomed visitors to check out a previously unpublished portrait of George Washington, historic paintings and furniture, and even a silver room.
“Americana Week is really about a certain aesthetic and lifestyle that I think celebrates America’s history,” said Caroline Seabolt, head of sales for American art at Christie’s. “We are just so excited to be able to offer all of these great objects in one week.”
The auction ended on Friday, and a Christie’s rep told News 12 that two of the paintings alone sold for nearly $9 million.
