Citi Bike is expanding to Upper Manhattan and the Bronx and will be accessible to essential workers.
For the first time, Citi Bike will be available in the Bronx, with some bike stations located right outside hospitals.
The bike share service is installing more than 100 new stations across Manhattan and the South Bronx. The city, along with Lyft, is rolling out the critical workforce program for medical workers, transit employees and first responders, including people who work at food banks and nonprofits.
The service will provide a free bike membership intended to make it easier for those essentials workers to commute.

Bike stations will begin popping up in neighborhoods like Melrose, Port Morris, Longwood and Highbridge.
For those who work in a hospital or are a first responder there is no cost to enroll. Today marks the start of the installation of the new bike stations and they are all expected to be complete by the end of July.
