City bus drivers held a rally Monday to denounce violence against them and call for more on-the-job protection.

Members of the union that represents bus drivers gathered at MTA headquarters in Downtown Brooklyn to share stories of being assaulted at work. The group also called on the MTA to create an ad campaign about the value of bus operators, and asked for more security shields on board.

A Bronx bus driver is among those recently attacked after a passenger refused to pay the fare.

The MTA says it takes bus driver safety very seriously, and is working closely with the NYPD to determine how to catch and prosecute suspects.
