City Hall’s chief legal counsel Lisa Zornberg is leaving her post, according to officials.
The announcement was made Saturday night by Deputy Mayor for Communications Fabien Levy.
Zornberg’s departure comes just days after former Police Commissioner
Edward Caban resigned in the aftermath of a federal corruption investigation.
The investigation was one of several probes that have targeted close aides of mayor Eric Adams and top administration officials.
Adams expresses gratitude to Zornberg in a statement. It read in part, “We appreciate all the work Lisa has done for our administration and, more importantly, the city over the past 13 months. These are hard jobs, and we don't expect anyone to stay in them forever...The other senior members of the counsel's team will remain in their roles to ensure the office continues to fully operate without issue, and we expect to name an acting chief counsel in the coming days."
Zornberg, who has served in her role since 2023, released the following statement:
“I am deeply grateful to Mayor Adams for giving me the opportunity to serve the city, and I strongly support the work he has done and continues to do for New Yorkers."
An official reason for her resignation is not yet known.
