The city has launched the NYC Kids Rise Save for College Program at a school in Williamsburg, allowing kindergarteners to have a scholarship account.
All families with kindergarten students enrolled in a New York City public school can now receive a scholarship account with $100 deposited.
"This is a game changer. It is a groundbreaking moment. I'm sure my mom is watching and wishing she had this opportunity when I was in kindergarten," says NYC Schools Chancellor Meisha Ross Porter.
If your child is eligible, they will be automatically enrolled.
