City plans to expand 'Quality of Life Division' to enhance public safety

The city announced it will be expanding the "Quality of Life Division" and its "Q-teams" to all precincts throughout the city.
It's part of a pilot program launched in April to address issues that impact New Yorkers safety and well-being.
It will tackle issues, ranging from things like illegal smoke shops, illegally parked cars, noise complaints and more.
The NYPD says in the 60-day pilot program, it issued 6,114 summonses citywide, towed 492 vehicles, made 357 arrests, among other violations it addressed.
News 12 has reported that neighbors in Woodlawn expressed concern over noise and illegal parked cars.

News 12 spoke with residents like Emmanuel Jimenez, who says he's hopeful it will improve the quality of life.
"If they're fair about it, yea, I would like to sleep. That would be great. With illegally parked cars, they're literally everywhere, I mean especially when there's no parking and you're trying to get through, that sucks," said Jiminez.
The city says the rollout will happen in two phases, starting in July and continuing into August.
