On what would be Malcolm X's 96th birthday, civil rights leaders gathered in Harlem Wednesday for the 32nd annual Black Power rally and Shut 'Em Down march.
Leaders of the human rights group, The December 12th Movement, marched down 125th Street and past the famed Apollo Theater that honored Malcolm X on its marquee. They encouraged businesses on their route to shut down from 1-4 p.m. if they hadn't already.
Malcolm X was assassinated in Harlem in 1965 -- the annual march is a way to commemorate and honor his legacy fighting against systemic racism.
