New Yorkers are taking to Twitter to tell the New York City Housing Authority to clean up its act.

Last weekend, Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. posted a video to social media that showed garbage that wasn't picked up for weeks at the Sotomayor Houses in Soundview.

The garbage was picked up once the video was seen on social media, so Diaz decided to launch a social media campaign called #CleanUpNYCHA.

NYCHA told News 12 in part that "We're focused on solutions--not hashtags. The most efficient way for NYCHA to address resident concerns is by contacting NYCHA directly."

Diaz, however, says that this new method appears to be the better option.

"It's unfortunate because the only way that we were able to get results is by posting the video," he says.

NYCHA is asking their tenants to create a work ticket using the MyNYCHA app if they have any issues.
