5h agoSome Clinton Hill residents are raising concerns over trash, loitering and noise near a growing migrant shelter.
The shelter is located on Hall Street, and houses an estimated 3,000 asylum seekers including single men and families.
At a recent meeting for Brooklyn Community District 3 some residents raised their concerns to representatives from NYC Health and Hospitals.
Council member Crystal Hudson, who represents the area, said her office has fielded similar concerns.
She is working to address these quality of life issues.
"We've increased funding for the department of sanitation and implemented a program called ACE where we have additional community cleanups on Park Avenue which is adjacent to the HERRC," she said.
Hudson also said NYC Health and Hospitals has agreed to meet with residents quarterly to discuss the status of the shelter and address community concerns.
Despite these concerns, Hudson said the majority of residents have embraced their new neighbors.
NYC Health and Hospitals has set up an email to allow residents to ask questions, give feedback and concerns.
