A catch basin has collapsed at the intersection of Eagle Avenue and Westchester Avenue in the Melrose section of The Bronx.
It’s at the corner of a crosswalk, making it dangerous for pedestrians walking by. Although it's unclear when it collapsed, residents in the area say it's been like that for a while.
News 12 reached out to the Department of Transportation and the Department of Environmental Protection and is waiting to hear back.
One pedestrian told News 12 that he walks past it every day, calling it a “huge hazard.”
"Now that I'm seeing it, I think it's crazy because I could've fell in it,” said Andy. “My mom, anyone that lives with me that I care about or anyone around here."
He says his tax dollars should be funding the repairs, but he hasn't seen any work done in months.
"When civilians and citizens are paying so much in taxes, they city should look better. At least cleaner, things like this shouldn't be happening," he said.
