A collapsed storm drain at the intersection of Featherbed Lane and Plimpton Avenue is raising safety concerns in Morris Heights

DEP traffic cones and caution tape surround this collapsed storm drain.

Aeloma, who has lived in this area for 30 years, says this is a safety hazard for the children in the area.

"It's dangerous for the community. They need to do something soon because you got children come out of school from here," she says.

Another nearby resident told News 12 that right across the street, there is another collapsed storm drain.

She says DEP came by and partially fixed it, but adds that collapsed storm drains are a problem in this area.

Aeloma says the multiple collapsed storm drains are very concerning.

"I sure do hope that they fix it very soon, because someone is sure to get hurt," she says.

Community activist Sidney Flores says he sees these broken storm drains often, and they can cause serious damage, especially if someone isn't paying attention.

"Somebody, if they don't notice it on time, they could break an ankle or a leg," says Flores.
