Manhattan College is joining other schools around the world in a training program designed to prevent sexual assaults on campus.

According to the National Sexual Violence Resource Center, one in five women and one in 16 men are sexually assaulted in college. The center says more than 90 percent of those victims do not report the assaults.

Manhattan College and other schools have adopted the "Green Dot" training program in a bid to fight such crimes.

The program, which covers sexual assaults, domestic violence and stalking, seeks to show students warning signs to look out for and how to safely intervene.

Students who have already received that training say it helps them defuse difficult situations and create safer environments around campus.
