The funeral service for slain NYPD Officer Miosotis Familia drew thousands of mourners to the World Changers Church on the Grand Concourse Tuesday. 

"It's been really weird to talk about her in the past tense, because she's still here," her 12-year-old son, Peter Familia, told the gathering. "She's not gone."

Familia's other children, Peter's twin sister Delilah and 20-year-old Genesis Familia, also spoke at the ceremony.

"I'm glad that she touched your hearts," the oldest daughter told the assembled mourners. "And I'm honestly not surprised that she did."

As News 12 has reported, the 12-year veteran and mother of three was fatally shot by a parolee last week in Fordham as she sat in a marked police vehicle. She was 48 years old.

NYPD Commissioner James O'Neill posthumously promoted her to detective first-grade during the ceremony, prompting a round of applause.

Many of the people who came to pay their respects were fellow officers from New York and around the country, including O'Neill's predecessor, Bill Bratton.
