The Brownsville community is calling for unity and more resources Friday after a triple murder-suicide left a 9-year-old girl without her mother, father and two half-sisters.

Community members say it is time to take action. 

“The message today is that we are going to come together and heal in Brownsville. This is a tragic loss, our hearts go out to that 9-year-old young lady, our hearts go out to that family. We have to really come together and really provide services that make sure individuals know that there's an alternative to gun violence,” said Elite Learners Inc. Founder Camara Jackson. 

Organizers set up tents that allowed community members to learn about the services they are offering. 

Services focused on mental health and wellness, along with legal services. 

Organizers from Elite Learners Inc., Brownsville in Violence Out and Rise say they hope to spark important conversations in the community. 

A vigil was also held Friday night with elected officials and community leaders.
