Four months after a massacre at Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida, members of one Bronx community held a public meeting on how to keep children safe here.
Johnnie Goff, an event organizer, says the goal is to prepare children and their parents in advance in case an active shooter situation occurs.
Community groups and NYPD personnel took part in teaching preparedness workshops and answering questions from concerned residents.
Organizers say they hope to hold more similar events in the future.
