Con Ed asked customers to limit their electricity usage as temperatures soared in the Bronx Monday.
Con Ed said it would reduce voltage to more than 31,000 customers as they worked to repair an outage that affected customers in the northern section of the Bronx like Riverdale and Sputen Duyvul, causing them to lose power over the weekend.
Customers were asked not to use appliances like washers, dryers, microwaves and air conditioners unless needed for medical reasons until equipment problems were solved.
