Con Edison says ruptured gas main in Bedford Park shut off; 5 treated by EMS

The FDNY says there are more than 100 firefighters and EMS workers near 379 Bedford Park Boulevard.

Con Edison says a gas valve on Bedford Park Boulevard ruptured this morning – an incident that prompted a large emergency response to the surrounding area.
The utility says there was no explosion, and the gas main was shut off.
In a statement to News 12, Con Edison said crews would remain on the scene and make repairs before returning gas service to those in the immediate area later today.
The FDNY responded with more than 100 firefighters and EMS workers near 379 Bedford Park Boulevard. They say there was an odor of gas fumes in the area.
The FDNY says EMS treated five patients - three went to hospitals. Fire crews and Con Edison checked surrounding buildings and said they were "safe to reoccupy."
News 12’s Lindsay Tanney was there and shared a video from a neighbor who saw what appeared to be gas spilling out of a building.
