A conference was held Friday aimed to make health a top priority in the Bronx.
The Bronx CBOS Transforming Health conference was held at HOSTOS Community College.
About 100 community members were invited to the event.
Organizers say the conference is intended to highlight the growing movement of Bronx community-based organizations that are transforming health through collective action and community-oriented services.
Speakers included a public housing resident with diabetes who lost 100 pounds, a Cambodian refugee who helps Bronx refugees overcome the trauma, and a tenant leader who links Bronx asthmatics to services to rid their homes triggers like mold and rodents.
The Bronx has ranked last in over health out of 62 communities in New York for several years.
