Hundreds of children in the Bronx received new school supplies with the help of local congressmen.
Congressman Joseph Crowley, along with Councilman James Vacca, donated supplies to two schools in the Bronx Tuesday.
More than 400 students were at P.S. 89 in Allerton to pick up their donated school supplies.
Congressman Crowley says he hopes these supplies can take some financial burden off families.
"We're in a very high need area. We have a lot of students that are in homeless shelters. We have a lot of new students from immigrant families that have come into our community and are truly in need of essential supplies so the students can be successful during the school year," says Ralph Martinez, principal of P.S. 89.
