Construction is now underway for a new commercial development in Mott Haven that is being called one of the first of its kind in more than 75 years.

The six-story building being built by Signature Urban Properties and Monadnock Development includes 7,000 square feet of retail space on the ground level and 67,000 square feet of commercial space.

The new development is part of an ongoing revitalization of the Bronx that has been taking place over the past decade, particularly in the South Bronx.

However, some Bronx residents are concerned that the more big developers want to build in the Bronx, the less room they will have in their neighborhoods.

Construction will continue for the next couple of months. Retailers are expected to move into their new space sometime in December.
