The corpse flower at the New York Botanical Garden has finally bloomed.
Dozens of spectators visited for a chance to get a glimpse of the rare act of nature.
Corpse flower blooms in the western hemisphere are extremely rare -- the first happened in the Bronx in the 1930s. The last time one happened in New York was 1939.
There are several smaller, unbloomed corpse flowers growing at the garden.
