New crime statistics released by the NYPD show that there were 153 gun violence victims who were minors in 2022, up from 138 in 2021 and 125 in 2020. 

This comes just as two minors were shot outside of Williamsburg Charter High School on Wednesday. Vice President at Bronx Rises Against Gun Violence (BRAG) David Caba says this wakeup call is exactly what the city needs. 

"Our young people their brains are still developing... their coping mechanisms are not the same as mine," said Caba. "That gives you a reason to invest more in what we do. Our young people need mentors, need big brothers and sisters that provide all these services to them free of charge, whenever they need it."

BRAG is also urging the city to combat the iron pipeline of illegal guns coming into the city.
